Small Dog Rescue

needing a rescue group for Small Dog breeds that allows adoption in monroe county, fl?
I have taken time to fill out lengthy applications for yorkie maltese bichon etc rescue sites only to be told after the fact, they do not have anyone to conduct a home visit in my area.
I checked petfinder and 3-4 others and I received email response along the lines of sorry, we do not have anyone able to do home visits in your area so we are not able to do adoptions in your area. My zip code is 33037 – florida keys. I will ask my local shelter but the email response did not provide me with any hope or alternatives or ability to really respond. I had everything they were looking for.
Listen…..you CAN get someone to do a home visit! Contact your rescue league again…..tell them to call YOUR local Humane Society and ask that a representative from there do the home visit, on a Volunteer basis! Call YOUR Vet….ask the same thing……
Provide pictures of you and your home, yard, etc. This has been done MANY times in the past!
The BEST way for this to be considered is for YOU to JOIN the RESCUE LEAGUE! We need as many volunteers as possible. You can do a variety of things from home. Once a year, once a month or every week. All contributions in time, energy, and $ are needed!
Good Luck! I know you can facilitate this happening!
ADD: Forgot,,,,,,ask your Rescue to contact any other Rescue in YOUR area and request a curtesy HOME VISIT!

Small Furry Prayer: Dog Rescue And The Meaning Of Life $16.59 Steven Kotler was forty years old, single, and facing an existential crisis when he met Lila, a woman devoted to animal rescue. "Love me, love my dogs" was her rule, and Steven took it to heart. Spurred to move by a housing crisis in Los Angeles, Steven, Lila, and their eight dogs—then ten, then twenty, and then they lost count—bought a postage-stamp-size farm in Chimayo, New Mexico. A Small Furry Prayer chronicles their adventures at Rancho de Chihuahua, the sanctuary they created for their special needs pack. While dog rescue is one of the largest underground movements in America, it is also one of the least understood. An insider look at the "cult and culture" of dog rescue, A Small Furry Prayer weaves personal experience, cultural investigation, and scientific inquiry into a fast-paced, fun-filled narrative that explores what it means to devote one’s life to the furry and the four-legged. Along the way, Kotler combs through every aspect of canine-human relations, from humans’ long history with dogs through brand-new research into the neuroscience of canine companionship, in the end discovering why living in a world made of dog may be the best way to uncover the truth about what it really means to be human. Steven Kotler, author of the surfing classic West of Jesus , peers through the lenses of science and spirituality to examine the world of dog rescue, and what dogs can teach us about how to live and love. |

Extra Buddy, Small Dog $9.65 Here is a hands free leash system done very well. The Buddy System uses a belt around your waist with an adjustable leash attached. The leash is adjustable from 22″ to 40″ (small dog system is 33″ to 60″) and it uses a detachable swivel hook. Quick release clips make it easy to disconnect the leash from your belt or attach the unused end (when your dog is off playing) to the belt so you don’t have to carry a leash. Great for walking, jogging, hiking, or training a new puppy. Wonderful for total management of that new puppy or rescue dog so you won’t have any accidents in the house or have bad habits begin.
