Dogs For Adoption

dogs for adoption
I think the dog whisperer should host all the crazy dog adoption shows on Animal Planet does anyone else agree

I was watching yet another dog adoption show, this one on a black and white dog named rocky and I couldn’t believe how they acted around the dog, anyone whos seen the dog whisperer will know what I mean, the first family kept talking to him in that high pitched baby vioce which is not good for Dogs! He seemed scared of them, in his head he was probably going “Now why should I listen to them, they’re not being calm-assertive.” The next family imedialty pet the dog the second they daw him, another no-no, whereever that dog goes he’s going to wind up ruling the house, I hate stuff like that. I think Cesar Millan should host the dog adoption shows.

I don’t know… I suppose he COULD host the dog adoption shows, but most the times the host isn’t really involved in any show beyond making statements, so why’s it matter? I doubt they’d want him to sit there and critique the potential owners every movement anyway.

‘Talking to the dog in high-pitched baby voices’. This can be benificial to getting a dog to listen to you, though it depends on a dog, because they pay more attention to higher noises, and it CAN make them really happy and a good reward tool. Probably works less in a situation where the animals already a bit frightened, but I doubt he was considering how they wouldn’t be calm-assertive. Dogs don’t work that way- they don’t have the logical thinking to even consider that these people were going to adopt him. All he knew was that they were bugging him. He was probably thinking that he was already kind of freaked out and now people were shoving there faces and babbling at him and it scared him more.

Oh, yeah and ‘immediately pet the dog the second they saw him’. I did that. I petted all the dogs in the pound right off, unless they were obviously scared, then I just talked to them. I’m not below my dog on the pecking order; I can steal his food without a sound, I can make him lay down, I can pet his belly, etc. He has never been dominating towards me or anyone else. He respects all people, even those who he knows he could dominate in an instant. (He sees the mentally disabled and is so good around them). It’s instinct for a lot of people to just pet the dog in adoption situations because they feel bad for the pooch.

So the moral of this story is:

You can’t always tell how people are going to treat their dog by them talking to/petting them for a minute. Especially on TV. And even if you could, there are always other, just as successful ways to own or train a dog; not just your way. All dogs and all people are different. Either of these techniques could have worked on the dog.

Adoption as a Ministry, Adoption as a Blessing

“”Abba, Father ” Of all the pictures the Lord uses to describe His relationship with believers, that of a loving father to adopted children is perhaps the most tender. As the body of Christ observes families who have lovingly welcomed adopted children into their midst, we gain a greater appreciation of our own adoption into the family of God. Exploring what Scripture says about adoption and the value of children, Michelle Gardner demonstrates that adoption can be God’s first choice for some lives. Weaving her own children’s heartwarming adoption stories throughout the book, Michelle presents a new challenge for believers to do something drastic for a child. Adoption as a Ministry, Adoption as a Blessing explores: – what the Bible says about ministering to children in need of families – how the church can minister to adoptive families – whether it is right to spend a great deal of money on one child’s adoption – whether domestic or international adoptions are more worthy – the blessings of adoption If you are touched by adoption in any way, this book will give you a new perspective on the Biblical significance of this unique relationship. Michelle Gardner, the Director of Kingdom Kids Adoption Ministries, is a graduate of Multnomah Bible College. She and her husband Steve were missionaries with CBInternational for several years. Steve is now Pastor to Children and Families at Fourth Memorial Church in Spokane, Washington. They have six children, three of whom are adopted.”

Adoption For Dummies

Adoption For Dummies

You hear all sorts of things said or implied about adoption. Some information comes from people who know a lot about it, while some comes from people who don’t know anything about it but make assumptions anyway. Some comes from people whose experiences have been good; some from those whose experiences have been bad. The result? Enough conflicting information to make your head spin. So when everyone has an opinion and most of the books on the market deal with specific aspects on adoption or particular types of adoptions, where do you turn to for reliable information? Start with Adoption For Dummies . The great thing about this guide is that you decide where to start and what to read. It’s a reference you can jump into and out of at will.  Just head to the table of contents or the index to find the information you want. Each part of Adoption For Dummies covers a particular aspect of adoption, including: Answering the basic adoption questions – How much does it cost? Who’s involved? How long does it take? What do I need to know that I don’t know to ask? And more. Getting started – and figuring out what steps you have to take. Dealing with birthmothers and birthfathers – and why, even though they may not be part of your life, they’re still important to you. Confronting the issues adoptive families face – issues from sharing the adoption story with your child, to answering your child’s questions about his birthparents, to handling rude family members who treat your child differently than her cousins. Finding help – from books, resources, and support groups. No adoption book – at least no adoption book that you can carry around without a hydraulic lift – can tell you everything there is to know about adoption. What Adoption For Dummies tells you is what you need to know, all in an easy-to-use reference.
